Munich and Greece!

Hello there, it has been a few days since i have last updated!!! Buts thats because i was away on "holiday" as they like to call it in europa. But first, i would like to just share with you what a typical outfit on a rainy day might look like.... Just kidding. but i really did wear that out. it was sooo funny. anyways, back to the trips!\
i headed to munich last tuesday by train and i stayed in a hostel (it was a 40 person dorm. i will never do that again, i got no sleep with all the noise, but it was cheap!) on tuesday the weather was crappy and rainy ( go figure) and i walked around and found a really neat art museum and spent some time there. after that i came back to the hostel and met a guy from alabama, he was nice and we had dinner together. on wedsnedayi walked around downtown munich (Marinzplatz- where the famous coo-coo clock is and then i took a free bike tour around the city! it was great! and i met alot of really cool travelers, and then we went to the hofbrauhaus (a big bier garten) and enjoyed the umpa-music and german beer! :)
thursday i caught a flight to athens in the afternoon. i met up with a guy that had been studying here in lueneburg with me, brooks and we had a great time. friday we saw the acropolis (full of cranes and scaffolding, they have been working on it since 1970s... haha) but it was really neat to see the ruins and such. then we headed to the agora where we got yelled at for posing with the statues.... haha it was crazy. next we went to the highest point in athens to see the typical white greek church. it was really pretty ( i have a bit more pictures but i will show you them later) we headed to the national gardens where they had a cool "zoo" filled with pigeons, and goats and rabbits and peacocks. haha it was so funny.... we had amazing greek food the whole time we were there ( i ate feta cheese every day, its my new addiction, i love it) . anyways on saturday morning we just BARELY made the ferry over to Mykonos island. it was about a five hour trip and when we got there and on most of the ride it was raining. and it wouldnt be a big deal, one day of rain, but it hasnt rained in athens or that area for 6 months, and i have had plenty of rainy days in germany. haha so yah we were like stuck in our cabin (or more like a cabinet bc it was soo tiny! doesnt he look happy?? haha) we stayed at this camp ground thing, and we could have slept in a tent but thankfully we didnt. it was really nice and right on the beach with a restuarant, bar, ity bity pool, and yah so day two and three were gorgous. on the second day there we rented a mo-peds (because thats the cool thing to do in greece!) and rode around the island and then had a yummy sea food dinner into town. on monday evening we headed back to athens for one more night and then left early tuesday. which was perfect beacause the european championship was held in athens and it was getting crazy!!!

yesterday one of the girls i met in munich was visiting hamburg and had seen all the sights so she came to luneburg and i showed her around a real small german town (she had only been to big cities, and they all start to look alike after a while) so yah we had fun and ate sushi (which i LOVE) with my flatmates. she was really cool

today i said some good byes to my language partner and some other friends at the uni. it was sad but thankfully a great day for weather.

tomorrow i leave for a camping trip with my flatmate katrin (julia left for norway today!) we are really excited except the weather has predicted rain (GO FIGURE!) so hopefully it will miss us. we will canoe and hike and bbq and all sorts of fun stuff. i am very excited.

the new girl also came and is living in my old room. that is wierd. but yah hopefully she will enjoy herself.

i am getting excited and ready to come home. :) cant wait to hear all about your life!! :)

ciao!

girls weekend in roma....

hello everyone!!

Last weekend I headed to rome to visit my dear friend susan. She and I were bunkmates last summer in Mississippi! She is from Maryland and goes to college in New York city. She is in italy learning the language and helping Campus Crusade plant churches. I was so excited to visit her.

We are basically loving eachother. it was the first time i had seen her since last summer. YIPPEE!!!

plus her boyfriend came last week to visit and he proposed when they went to vience!! ahhh, i was the first person that she told (well from project at less!) I was like screaming in the train station!!! haha

On saturday we walked around the spanish steps, talked and ate GELATO!! then we caught up in a gorgeous park and then headed for some authentic italien pizza! yum! dont worry we ate more gelato after that!! haha (ITS UNBELIEVABLE!)

sunday we headed to the beach, it was about 30 minutes outside the city, but it was soo goregous and soo hott (for being april!) we were reading and talking and enjoying the beauty of Gods love in europa! :) After a long day at the beach (i got sunburned on the back of my legs, i always forget to sunscreen them!) we headed back to the city for some really great Italien pasta and tiramisu!! we were stuffed and it was soo good!

Monday we headed out early for some fun shopping and of course more gelato! I left around noon and headed back to Deutschland... but it was such a fun and relaxing weekend to spend with a great friend. It was nice just to hangout and chat, because since her boyfriend, i mean finance had just left (on wednesday) she was feeling a bit sad (i know the feeling exactly) so it was great to spend quality time together!

tonite is JESUS House! I am sooo excited for it. its this huge conference that is being broadcasted all throughout europe (like 500 venues!) and its happening right here in hamburg. There will be a huge worship service, a talk and then an alter call. I am going to be a consler for when students give their life to chirst to be able to talk with them, or if they just need to talk about things i will be ther (auf englisch) haha i hope to have someone to talk with, but if not i can def be praying for the other conversations that everyone will be having (auf deutsch) haha. i am so excited to see how god is moving in europe. europe is really spritually dead, yah alot of it is of a catholic background, but they dont live for christ, they only do what the chruch has said. or many of the people are sick of what the chruch has done and they want nothing more... its really hard to see people like that. I am way excited because my one flatmate, kathrin and her boyfriend jens, will come on saturday! She proclaims to be an athiest but we have had some really amazing conversations and i cant wait to see god move in her life. Be praying for her and my other flatmate, as she is wrestling with her own faith now. god has been on the move lately and its so great to witness it. its been really awesome how god has shown me this semester that he does not only lie in the four walls of a church, he is everywhere and apart of everyone. wow. so cool.

ok ciao bella!!

Frohostern!

hallo alles!

und jetzt ... i will translate... i mean its not too hard to read but now i can add pictures of the gorgeous southern part of germany for my easter holidays....

i went to steinfield with my flatmate, Julia. we visited her family (they dont speak any english, it was fun trying to communicate). thursday when we arrived we of course had icecream (its addicting here!!) and we walked around in the gorgeous palace... sooo cool this building like gazebo was decorated out of sea shells, like mosiaic. this is julia showing me her evening wear from when she was in India. i think its pretty cool.

On friday we went to the Procession, it was intresting because it was a silent parade. kinda weird, but it was awesome to see the face of jesus everywhere... check out this creepy wooded figures.... then we walked around the city, and had ice cream (which according to catholic law its like a sin, because you arnt supposed to have sweets.. haha we were looked at by everyone.... i mean i dont think god's unfailing love toward us is going to be any less because we enjoyed an icecream cone, but yah. haha this town supposably is the town where the legend of snow white occured... i mean it does look straight of a story book, here is her castle ( i guess disney didnt invent it... haha) later than night we ate some more (story of the weekend) and read out in the sunshine (julia got burnt!) and played some games and dyed a bunch of eggs!!! fun fun!

saturday, we headed to wurzburg, and shopped and ate and talked and we visited the Residenz which is like a fake castle that this Prince bishop (he made the rank up, he thought he was
everything) it was gorgeous, and i love the celings (and i wasnt supposed to be taking pictures... how was i supposed to knoW?) haha then we met up with her sister and ate "auflauf" which is like some baked pasta thing, really great. next we headed to the movies and saw the new film (in german) (well its probably pretty old compared to the states) but the one with drew barrymore and hugh grant. its so funny, i love hugh grants hips and his singing is so funny. i had a beer at the movie theather. because I COULD. hahah so great. (plus i could understand it!)

sunday, julia and i headed to the easter mass. it was fine, but i wish more people were rejoicing, Jesus has risen! Be happy, he has died but lives in you and me, is what i wanted to scream. but of course not many would understand and the ones who would would think i was crazy. but then we had a traditional German easter lunch, with lamb and these fried potatoe balls (we were all supposed to eat 15 of them. i could barely finish 5. haha they make things soo heavy in germanY!) after that we just played games and relaxed with the cousins

monday was very nice and relaxing, julia and i went on a walk and it was still soo nice weather, we didnt need coats or anything. after a bit of reading in the sun it was time to head back to Lueneburg....

it was a great weekend, very relaxing and really fun. lots of german spoken and understood. (plus for me!)

this week, weather in LG has been wishywashy ( I mean at least its not snowing like in ohio!!haha!!) lots of end of the year school stuff to get done and turn in... i am truly considering minoring in both french and german, it would only be a half a semester more that i would already need to be here... soo yeah? i danno. we will see (but i bet i get screwed by ut... i can already feel it, oh wait because thats whats going on now. grrrr)

still not sure if i am going to stay... my flatmate Kathrin and some really sweet friends are going on a camping trip on memorial day weekend. i really want to stay for that. i am just looking at finacial options and other situtions that need to be addressed if i stay. Pray for me about disernment because i really dont know what to do. If i stay, i would love to travel to Dresden, Munich, switzerland and Athens (and lay on the beach). so yeah. who knows.

how was your easter? try writing me in german!! whooho!
